This week we are talking about Your Very Own Electronic Medical Record.
We have all heard about the advantages of electronic medical records for provider offices and facilities. Now personal medical records controlled by patients are becoming available. Some require manual entry by the patient, others you can fax information or through electronic devices upload the data directly.
Is this going to be free? No but it can help you health care providers to monitor your progress and adjust your treatment. With more and more devices such as scales, blood pressure monitors and blood sugar monitors becoming capable of electronically sending the finding to the web either directly or through a hand held device, your health monitoring can be come an electronic record on the web. And you as the "owner" can determine who you share the results with. As security issues are addressed this could become a large benefit to patients.

This week we are talking about Older Boomers and The Economy.
As we get closer to retirement, the economy can hit us harder. Not only are prices rising but retirement accounts are hit hard in reduced value.
But you are still working and can wait out the downside. Just continue to work and rebuild for retirement.
For those who have retired, it can really be a catastrophe. Some questions to ask yourself. Can you go back to work? Can you survive until the economy recovers? Retirees are hit harder because many of them are not able to work and therefore make up for their losses.
So your older relatives may be in a very serious financial situation now that the economy has gotten worse. You may want to check on them to be sure they can survive under these circumstances.

This week we are talking about Hotels and Technology.
Hotels realize that in today's technocentric world, they need to meet the technology needs of its guests. And it must meet those needs in ways that are easy to use.
Sheraton has partnered with Microsoft to create the "Link@Sheraton" lounges. these lounges are in the lobby and equipped with public computers so you can check your email, print boarding passes and record video greeting to send to family and friends.
Other hotel groups have similar partnerships with technology companies. This can be a win-win for both. The hotel can show off the new and easy to use technology and the technology company can show off and test its newest offerings.
But computer lounges are not the only new technology offerings. Some hotels are testing home automation in their rooms. You can control the temperature, lights , blinds, TV and other items from a simple console.
The secret is to make it easy to use. If it is not easy the guests will not use it. But if it works the hotels brand is improved.
