Baby Boomer Technology – New Computer Software Bloat

Welcome to this weeks edition of Baby Boomer Technology – New Computer Software Bloat

Show Notes:

When you buy the typical new computer it comes with many if not hundreds of different software.  Personally I quickly uninstall all of it myself.  Best Buy for $30 will remove it for you.  So why is all that software there?  Because it is hoped you will buy the upgraded version.  The manufacturer is paid to add this software and could pass on some the savings to the buyer.

But this is going to change next year at least for HP.  HP the worlds largest technology company will start to ship their computers without this added software.  The new owner will be sent to a site to purchase (or Free)  and download the software they want.

From my prospective, it's about time.

It is amazing to me how quickly everything upgrades …One day you are chic and the next day out dated. And learning how to use and get the most out of software demands a PHD in something or another…carol stanley author of For Kids 59.99 and Over.
