Show Notes:

Remember in 1995 when Continental Airlines first offered airport kiosk to check in?  Or when Alaska Airlines in 1999 was first to offer web check in?  Now both practices are offered by almost all airlines.

Continental is now testing the newest boarding method.  You can receive a two dimensional bar code representing your boarding pass on your cell phone.  The image is scanned by security and with your photo ID you are ready to go through security and board the plane.  No more paper boarding passes.

Eventually you will be able to change reservations, seats, etc all with your cell phone.  But today this is only offered by Continental  only out of Houston, TX.  If the test works, you will soon see this all over the country.

Air Canada has been using this system since September but not for flights in and out of the US.  The are still waiting the official OK from TSA.

Forester Research found the 47% of frequent travelers are interested in using their cell phone for flight check in.  And 42% said they would be interested in using their cell phones for boarding passes.

Seem that this is the wave of the future in airline travel so be informed and prepared.
