Show Notes:

The government and many experts feel that the electronic medical record will decrease the cost of medicine, decrease the errors and reduce duplication of tests.  These are all good reasons to consider converting your records from paper to electronic records.

However there is one major obstacle to its utilization – the cost of implementation.  The cost is between $15,000 to $20,000 per doctor.  If you are in a large group there are savings and reduction in this cost.  However the majority of providers work in small groups.

So if this is such a good idea, what can we do to encourage its adoption?  Medicare is starting this year some pilot projects offering incentives to providers to adopt this technology.  We will have to wait and see.

Meanwhile Microsoft and others are trying to get you to move your records onto an electronic format.

It will be interesting to watch this unfold.

I read with great interest your blog about electronic medical records. MyMedicalRecords.com (MMR) is an advanced patient health record and an Integrated Service Provider on Google Health.

Using MMR, complete patient records can be easily faxed, voiced, or uploaded into a password-secured, web-based account. An emergency log-in feature also allows access to your critical medical information in the event of an emergency, and it has a drug interaction database for prescriptions, as well as many other features.

Perhaps you and your readers would like to test drive MMR by signing up for 30 days free using the promotion code TRYMMR.
