Baby Boomer Technology – Computers Rewiring Your Brain
Welcome to this weeks edition of Baby Boomer Technology – Computers Rewiring Your Brain
Show Notes:
Multi-tasking and constant use of the Internet, video games and "always on" technology may be rewiring your brain. We may be losing our ability to concentrate and contemplate.
For example some people are having difficulty concentrating on an article that is longer than 2-3 paragraphs and a skimming more than deep reading.
Dr. Gary Small writes that the average young person spends more than 8 hours each day using technology and much less time engaging in direct social contact. Brain scans show a change in brain circuitry.
Some other potential down sides include increased errors from multi-tasking, worsening of attention and risk of technology addiction. Finally a decline in face-to-face human contact.
What can we do? We can make sure we spend enough time off-line, both with other people and on our own. Learn something new, read a book, talk with other people in person.

It is so easy to get addicted to the internet…There is so much to read, see and do…I am always looking up something. It is the best source of information…However time to get out and be with people, take a walk and even clean the house.
