Baby Boomer Health – Warning System for Artificail Joints
Welcome to this weeks edition of Baby Boomer Health – Warning System for Artificail Joints
Show Notes:
Countries like Australia, Britain, Norway and Sweden have a national registry for joint replacement. The U.S. does not! The U.S. does the most joint replacements in the world but does not follow the outcomes of these patients to learn what works best. Why not – busy doctors hate paperwork, plaintiffs' lawyers would mine the database for cases, general hospitals would be unfairly compared with specialty ones and other reasons.
But what about the patients? Would a registry help to discover earlier faulty replacement joints? Would patients be in a better position to find competent surgeons?
We have a cancer registry so why not a joint replacement registry?
Ask your congressman and senator.

We are at the mercy of our doctors…no matter how much we think we know. We trust them (blindly sometimes) and we listen and do what they say…Well we should, as we have no where else to go…So I hopet he trust is well earned…carol stanley author For Kids 59.99 & Over
