Welcome to this weeks edition of Baby Boomer Health – Stop Snoring
Show Notes:
There are many sensible options to help you or someone you know stop snoring. According to one recent study up to 45% of normal adults snore at least occasionally and 25% snore regularly. 23% of couples sleep in separate rooms due to one partner's sleep troubles – most often snoring.
Simple changes in lifestyle may solve this problem. Consider not smoking, no alcohol or sedatives before bedtime or ear plugs. Sleep on your side not your back. Exercise especially singing exercise can help some sufferers. Regular practice of the didgeridoo – an indigenous wind instrument – has been shown to help. If you have nasal congestion, a decongestant can help some people.
A dentist can fit you with a prescription appliance that if used every night can help.
Surgeons can remove the excess tissue in the palate to relieve the snoring. This can be done multiple ways and no one way works for everyone.
So help is available if you need it.
