Type 2 Diabetes Risk Factors
This type of diabetes is when the body cannot properly utilize insulin
Treated with drugs, diet, exercise, weight control, blood pressure control and cholesterol level control
Common risk factors
Overweight
Over 45 years old
Family history of type 2 diabetes
Giving birth to a large baby – >9 lbs
Having high blood pressure or high cholesterol
History of heart disease
Maintaining a sedentary lifestyle and getting little or no exercise
Cheap weight loss
Using a pedometer to measure your daily steps
Just a 25% increase in exercise can result in significant health improvement
If you are already waking 30 minutes 6 days a week, you could increase steps by increasing speed and measure it with a pedometer
A pedometer is under $20.
