Baby Boomer Health – Better Driving
Welcome to this weeks edition of Baby Boomer Health – Better Driving
Show Notes:
Here are some ideas to help you drive better especially as your vision needs help.
The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends everyone between 40 and 65 have an eye exam every 2 to 4 years. After 65 they recommend an eye exam every 1 to 2 years. That's the first step.
Consider antireflective lenses for your glasses. This improves your vision by minimizing the glare. They are especially helpful at night.
For additional safety keep your car's lights clean so they can be seen easily. Keep a spare pair of eyeglasses in the car just in case. Don't buy a car with darkened or tinted windows. Check your head light alignment frequently. On long trips stop frequently to rest your eyes. If you are on prescription medications check with your doctor about how it might affect your driving.
Staying safe while driving is good for everyone. So we all should take it very seriously.
