Today travel is very expensive and so are large trade shows.  So you need to decide how much you want and can spend on travel and trade shows.

Consider:
1.  Are you a large player?  If so a national meeting with an exhibit is probably a good thing.  But if you are not a large player, the exhibit may not be your best choice.  Consider sponsoring an event, speaking or holding a private dinner with clients, the press and potential clients.
2.  Connect your company and its solution to the latest challenges.
3.  Offer food at you both – (good food) if allowed.
