Some tips:
Book directly with the airline
Book package trips
Sign up for airline newsletters or frequent flier programs and get notified of bargains
Buy one ticket at a time
Use alternative airports
Be flexible with your travel dates
If you see a bargain buy immediately. It might not last long.
