Show Notes:
If your business depends upon air travel or if you want to take a vacation using air travel, save up your money because it is going to be a lot more expensive than the last time you flew.
With the cost of fuel and other essential items are increasing, air lines are increasing fees to cover them. Raising fares or increased surcharges have happened at least 10 time so far this year.
For example full fare between Los Angeles and Philadelphia is now around $1,000 round trip. Leisure fares bought in advance are now about $230 round trip.
Other examples:
- Business class tickets are up 30%
- Fuel fees are more than $100 round trip domestic and $300 overseas
- Flights are being eliminated to reduce seats available giving more control to the airlines over charges
-
American, Delta, Northwest and United charge $25 to check a second bag Update May 22, 2008 American Airlines to charge $15 for first checked bag and $25 for second
- Spirit charges $10 to check a bag with a reservation or $20 if you did not reserve space for your luggage
- In flight meal can run $10
Just remember to budget more money for your flights or find other ways to visit friends and family.
