Show Notes:

How you can prevent vehicle break-ins.

You cannot stop people from breaking into cars but you can make it less likely your car will become a victim.  How do you do that?

Never leave anything in your car:such as purse, keys, cell phone, GPS, computer or anything  that is easily carried.

A thief is looking for an easy target and a quick get away.  If there is nothing of interest in sight, they will try another car.  So store your recent purchases in the trunk – out of sight.

If they get your credit card and wallet/purse not only can they steal your money but they can steal your identity.  That can take you months to straighten out.

So be careful.  Yes you don't want to take your purse into the gym but don't leave it in the car.

Never leave your car windows open.  You are just asking for a break-in.  And you may not even notice something missing until much later.

Broward County Sheriffs' Office Sgt. Thomas Palmer suggests:

1.  Copy down serial numbers on any electronics to make recovery easier

2.  Never keep you social security card in a purse or wallet

3.  Ttake as little with you as necessary when making routine trips to the store, school and other places

4.  If you can, park inside your garage instead of in the driveway

5.  If youpurchase something that cannot be hidden in the trunk, go home and then continue your shopping.
